Limited Slip Differential?

Postby LRidge » Wed Oct 08, 2014 9:41 pm

Just bought a 2003 LE. Other than getting the vehicle out in the mud, how can I tell if it has limited slip differentials?

It also has a rattle in the back that sounds like the spare tire or muffler, but it isn't. Anything specific I should look for?

Thanks

Exhaust and exhaust shield rattles are very common. Try banging around with a rubber or plastic mallet.

Some of the LSD diffs had a sticker on the rear that said "LSD." Another way is to jack up the rear end and put the trans in "neutral." Turn one of the rear wheels forward by hand. If the opposite wheel also turns forward, you have an LSD; if the opposite wheel turns in the opposite direction, you have an open rear.
