Oil Pressure Gauge Reading High
Well I've got a question for you guys to start off the new year. I was traveling home today from a weekend trip and noticed that the oil pressure gauge was maxed out cruising along at 75. The gauge only drops to about 3/4 when the engine is idling. I cannot notice any difference in how the engine runs. My initial conclusion is that the oil pressure sensor is faulty. Any thoughts or suggestions on what could be causing the oil pressure gauge to read high?
Your oil preasure sending unit has gone bad and most likely you also have not noticed that your oil light no longer turns on when you open the switch. I drove my 05 for over 30k miles with the gauge pegged like that until about a month ago that I decided to replace it and now it's working perfectly again and also the oil light comes on again. The Sensor is about $60 and maybe a 30 to 45 minute job. Good luck!
I was doing some searching online. I see that rock auto has the oil pressure sensor for $60. Advance auto and O'Reillys also have them for around $100. Courtesy Nissan does not have any online.
Does anyone know if the pathfinder models with an oil pressure gauge have a separate sensor for the "dummy" light or does the same sensor work with the guage and the dummy light. I would like to know if the dash warning light is still in working order even though my oil pressure gauge is not.

replaced oil pressure sensor
I finally got around to replacing my oil pressure sensor. It's very easy to access. It's located on the bottom of the engine block on the passenger side, right below the alternator. One word of advice for those about to replace the sensor: use an oil drain pan to catch any oil that may come out when the sensor is removed. The pathfinder service manual makes no mention of capturing oil that will drain out of the oil pressure sensor hole. Getting a bunch of oil in your hair is no fun.

Sorry to revive...my 06 just did this as of yesterday. I got the oil changed on Tuesday, and Thursday, the needle is pegged at high and won't move, regardless of idle, rev, or even sitting overnight. The timing seems too coincidental to be something that went bad-although it's possible. Should I be checking to make sure everything was tightened up correctly, or ???? Any suggestions are welcome!

not overfilled or underfilled?
is the replacement filter OEM?
