Took the truck for a little off road adventure today. Had to go downhill in a wet field, across some marsh with a nice side slope run, then some up and down muddy
tracks leading to our destination.
Used 4Lo all the way, on the way back needed all four wheels working as we got well and truly stuck at one point!!! A little rocking, reversing and working forward got the truck out of the mud. Running m/s tyres not AT's which might have been a lot better.

Wish id been able to film it, but was holding firmly onto the steering wheel as we slid all over the place !

The run back out was the steep field of which the truck went up zero problems

Here's the start and return of the route, you can see in the gateway the mud, which got worse down the field and along the forest soak away.

It was the side slop 'wetness' which we struggled on. Not something ive practised on, normal keep to straight on routes lol

There are some AT tires that are "mild" AT tires. .. that is they offer an AT rating while still maintain good streetability.
One advantage of those is they often also carry the mountain snowflake symbol w/o being a dedicated all-out winter tire that gets shredded at high speed/temps

As rule of thumb.. if an AT tire looks like it belongs on a military vehicle.. = not comfortably streetable for a daily driver.. (like the Courser MTX I had on my Xterra)

But some mild AT tires like Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 (which I run on Xterra my Pathy has a milder street oriented set on it right now which I wish I had the Hankooks also on the R51.)

Iâ€™m running on some Goodyear Wranglers M+S
tyres. Had them on the truck when we bought the vehicle
last year. They were almost on the limit but still slogged through
the snow and ice ok. So now have newer ones for this winter.

My previous truck, Mitsubishi Shogun had Cooper ATâ€™s and I really liked
them, but couldnâ€™t get from my normal stockist who did me a good deal
on the Goodyearâ€™s. But I was fairly pleased with them in the mud the other day. I did look on eBay for a set of wheels I could put some â€˜properâ€™ tyres
on but the UK weather here doesnâ€™t justify the price.
