27mpg Downhill Run

This was my first road trip since putting taller 265/75/16 tires on the Pathfinder S, which already has the tallest gears. Fully loaded then leveled out with airbags, 225 miles and -2400 ft of elevation, nice slow highway along the Lochsa river got me 27.1mpg! Of course it's necessary to go back uph...

Re: Camshaft position sensor

Start by cleaning your battery terminals, it can make some odd conditions and is easy. Then you've got fuel and air. Is the air filter super duper plugged up or been replaced by a squirrel nest? Probably not, but it's free to check. Fuel pumps can go bad in Pathfinders but it's rare. OEM/Hitachi are...

Re: Air Conditioning Advice

There are only two jobs that I don't mess with on any car, and I wouldn't take to any hillbilly shop. Transmissions and A/C. You want competent mechanics doing those jobs.

I believe a lot of the base model versions were the same in the X and Pathfinder.

Re: The R51 Pirate Bus

Lots of fun cargo! I have a similar rack, North Shore, but my bikes front tires sit close to the rear hatch. Can yours adjust in closer to the vehicle, or does it ride OK like that?

Re: 2-3OHM speakers

Bose or base stereo? Components sets where the 6x9 plays the low end in the door and the tweeter/wideband plays the higher frequencies are somewhat mated. to one another Specifically, the crossover between them and the sensitivity is really important, since you can't adjust any of that stuff with a ...

Re: Where under the hood is the heater inlet pipe?

There's one going in, and one going out of your oil cooler. Did you do either of those with the thermostat?

I like having vicegrip/locking needlenose pliers for all the hose clips if you end up using them instead of stainless clamps.

Re: Airbag occupant sensor clicking

I moved the ground from the bigger amp to one of the 12mm bolts right behind the driver's seat. Hooking up the battery gave me the awful blower motor click, but so far good tunes and no airbag-related clicking. Time will tell...

Re: Airbag occupant sensor clicking

2010. The manual is saying its a bladder system and that the OCS brain is behind the glove box. That's the right spot for the noise. I bet the ground on my amp is upsetting it, but the bladder must also be too sensitive if dirt roads are making it react. I'll try a new grounding location first, any ...

Airbag occupant sensor clicking

After a stereo/amp install, I have intermittent clicking from the passenger area. I also removed the seats in the process, but I have a feeling it's a ground issue. The problem only arises when the vehicle is moving, and when nobody is in the passenger seat, only when it's empty or lightweight items...

Re: Where under the hood is the heater inlet pipe?

I replaced the plastic tee with brass and deleted the redundant fitting on my X, haven't touched the Pathfinder yet, but mine doesn't have rear heat so it looks to be the same. It seems like a good idea when you get to a certain age where you notice the hoses looking dry and maybe cracking a tiny bi...

Re: Rear Hatch Hydraulics

This thread is horrible. 15 pages and there is no place to find specs, application for models or years, or part numbers in one location. For people searching: Gas strut, hatch, liftgate, gas spring, hydraulic, glass, rear window My 2010 Pathfinder S has hatch struts that mostly match the length of M...

Re: New morimoto frontier lights to fit 09 pathfinder?

I've refreshed the lenses a couple times, but the plastic itself is degraded with little cracks. I'll keep polishing for another year or two but eventually it will be new lenses or HID retrofit.

Re: Stmble on a slight hill

The Xterra and Pathfinder have the same traction control AFAIK, but they feel different. Maybe it's the wheelbase. The VDC off button only changes the link to the steering, it will still kill your power for a moment if tires lose traction. Could you have lost traction just enough to make it use ABS ...

Re: Does the R51 auto lock

Try this, might depend on the year. There should also be a setting to switch between the park position unlocking and key removal unlocking.
