Re: 2" lift UCA question 2008 V8

The entire front suspension needs replaced due to serious rust and squeaking issues. I'll be going with a modest 2" 5100 lift. Since I need to replace the upper and lower control arms anyway im wondering if it's worth getting upgraded/ performance UCAs and LCAs. The price difference is substan...

Used to call that, shaking hands with death
In some countries they cut hands off for stealing. Here only our vehicles do it. :P
It was a plastic fan so… probably not that dangerous.

Interior Swap (at least seats)

Hi All I would love to find a donor pathy with a good interior for a swap (i have a S 4WD base base base model). Seats are my first priority. However, it would be nice to be able to swap over whatever is nicer. Does anyone know what sort of compatibility there is with the interiors? Are all years in...

Re: Mechanical fan clutch always roaring

My redneck test for this was to grab a small towel and see if i could stop the fan from spinning when warm... I supposed turning the engine off after warming it up is a little safer.

Re: Lower front strut bolt

Original bolt is definitely recommended. It is likely a high strength bolt that you would have a hard time getting a replacement for that is appropriate. No affiliation but i have had good luck here: https://www.courtesyparts.com/ Or order online and pickup at local dealership. BTW, call in or walk ...

Re: Thinga-Ma-Jigger Update

BTW, there are some squeaks (i think from the suspension), but I still love this tire wheel and suspension setup. MPGs went from 15.5 to 13.8/13.9. However, the previous tires traveled about 10% less distance then the current ones. So based on my calculations its a wash to maybe .1 or .2 percent les...

Re: A different type of tailgate window leak

I would check you hinges on the rear window. I had to replace mine. they held on for a while, and then one day i went to the car wash and you can guess what happed. Hinges fixed the issue.

Re: Severely rusted trailer hitch and MANY other potential problems, 2008 V8

Replacing a vehicle right now is pretty painful. You didn't mention the mileage or anything about the condition of the engine or transmission. But If your doing the work yourself i would lean towards fixing.

Re: Got rust?

I used to use PB Blaster on my old BMW Bavaria (72, 73, or 74 I forget at this point). It was okay, better than any other option I had at the time. I have some seafoam deep creep to try. According to project farm its supposed to be pretty good. But the truth is I just don't have much rust to truly p...

Re: Transmission Clunk

The shift cable is bracketed to the tranny, so bad engine or trans mounts won't usually affect it like they do on some other vehicles. However, you could still have a stretched cable or some wear in the shifter that caused it to get out of adjustment. The first thing to do is check that. See AT-216...
