Let me first start by saying thank you to kmjsuperfly for the original post for a 08 pathfinder navigation bypass switch. I wanted to post this for people with an 06 Pathfinder with navigation. This was much easier than I thought and only took about 1 hours. For the 06 there is only one wire to cut and it is under the passenger seat. If I miss any steps make sure you read kmjsuperfly's posting for a much more detailed post and pictures here:

#1 Remove the cup holder trim, center storage bin (no screws)
#2 Remove the center console (no screws)
#3 I used the blank spot in the center console for the switch
#4 The switch I used is SPDT

#5 Install switch and run wires to the back part of the passenger seat.
#6 Here is a picture of the installed switch

For the next step I pulled up the front seat to get access to the Nav DVD player
#7 Here is a picture of the back of the NAV DVD player from the rear seat

#8 You want the connector on the right side (the smaller of the two) it is labeled B152 in the service manual. It is the 4th pin in from the left if you are looking at the end of the connector. It is pin # 66 and on my car it was a grey wire with silver dashes. The wire is called the Vehicle speed signal wire.

#9 Just cut the wire and connect each end of the wire to the leads from the switch.

Hope people with an 06 Pathfinder with Navigation find this helpful.

This is awesome! I did a similar thing on my i35 , and was hoping for something like this on the pathfinder. Thanks!

just finished this mod, I wanted to clarify something. that wire you have to cut in the harness is the 4th pin from the right if you are looking at the back of the connector, and the 4th pin from the left if you are looking at the female end of the connector. I almost got confused, but I got it right and mine was also gray with silver dashes.

Navigation Modification

Does anyone know if the modification described would work on a 2010 model? The interior looks pretty much the same...

Why run the wires to a switch? Why not just cut the wire and leave it cut?

I asked the same question and the author provided the answer--the wire is necessary to send speed information to the GPS. If you cut it (and leave it off) your GPS will eventually lose track of your location.

Does anyone know the exact model number on the switch? I'm having a hard time finding one that's an exact size match so it looks like it's meant to be there on the dash....

Thanks.

Thanks this has me pretty close. But now that I know where I'm looking, can some one clarify something for me?

Looking at the spec sheet:
http://content.honeywell.com/sensing/pr ... 2_2_en.pdf

Wouldn't I want MRS93-12BB?

I interpret this:

11BB = On-Off-On
12BB = Off-None-On

To mean that 11BB had 3 positions, while 12BB has 2 positions? Or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks for any insight!
