Remember...If you are going to use an extended mileage oil,you need to use an extended mileage filter.

Have any of you that are running Mobil 1 and changing your oil at X miles thought of sending any samples out for analysis? If your going to the trouble of using expensive synthetic you might as well drive it up to 5k (or wherever you feel comfortable) take a 3 oz sample and send it out. $20 later you know if your changing it too early, right on or too late. I don't know about you guys but between a nissan filter and the 5 quarts of oil I'm out around $15 on Dino. Mobil pushes that up another $5. Could save you a lot of money and time in the long run if your oil isn't becoming contaminated until 7.5k, 10k , etc miles.

I would still worry about the filter getting clogged up. I just change it all at 3.3K and don't stress about it.

You can get Mobil cheap at Walmart. I still use stock nissan filters, and still change every 3k give or take 500miles. I've pulled valve covers off 6 year old SR20's that have used regular oil, and ones that have used synthetic. The regular oil ones typically are so gunked up it disgusting. While synthetic ones look like this.

PS don't mind the popped rocker arms.

I'm not disputing the fact of using Syn vs Dino. I plan on switching over to Syn once I hit around 9k miles. Just wondering if anyone else has thought about the analysis service. I plan on putting my other 2 nissans on analysis so I know if the 3k oil change is soon enough or far too early.

Here's the report from my first (and so far only) report. This was the break-in oil from the factory dumped out at around 1500 miles.

We've got an 06 Murano that I'm waiting on getting miles on to change and get it tested. And an 01 Sentra I'll have checked when its next oil change is up.

Ehh, commuter. My wife's old GXE became my daily driver. Automajic trans. Its well kept and great on gas. But not a "fun" driver. If it was a manual I'd mess with it.

I really like the older 90's boxier style Sentra Spec-V's. Those things could hammer around the AutoX, as I'm sure your's does! I think mine is the same grey color as yours. Its good to know mine has the potential to look as good as yours.
