I get 2 to 3 years out of my batteries here in Arizona. Even the Optima Red top only lasted me 3 years.disallow wrote:How much power is the blanket rated for?
I am under the impression that heat is far worse for a battery than cold. Case in point is my 98 civic factory battery. It lived through 8 Winnipeg winters (its gets to and stays at -40 here for weeks at a time). But I hear that friends in Arizona and other warmer climes are lucky to get 3 or 4 seasons out of their batteries...
However, I would agree that a battery nearing the end of its life may benefit from a blanket in sub-zero temps. Thats because the electrolyte in the battery is probably worn and susceptible to freezing. That equals automatic replacement.
