rotate tires, tps?

Postby mikeshunk » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:59 am

Hey guys, I just want to rotate my tires and was wondering if I have to reset the tps?
I know some vehicles you have to reset them so the car knows what tire is where, is the Pathy the same?
And if so how do you do this?
I have a 2005 SE with OUT the nav. system.

Thanks.

You own an 05 and never rotated the tires? anyways to answer your question you have to do nothing when tires are rotated within the four corners. :D

Mikeshunk,

If you dont have directional tires, cross rotate them. It will help reduce cupping of the inside tread.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yeah, I just got it a few weeks ago, and it has 18,000 miles on it. The manual calls for every 7500 miles, so not knowing the exact maintenance schedule it was under, I figured I might as well do it now.

Thanks again.

My original set of BFG's were the Long Trail TA's. I didnt rotate them at all and ended up with them cupped real bad on the inside tread... all 4 of them.
My next set I rotated about every 7,500 miles and they wore much more evenly.

I cross rotated them like below...

I always heard it was not a good idea to cross rotate since it changes rotating direction. A Factory tech friend of mine said that you just dont want to do that on directional tread tires.

I cross rotate the rear tires and just move the fronts strait back.
