I did some pre-tahoe work on the thing to button some stuff up.

Mainly I put the wheel well liners back in with some trimming. This is for the fronts. I took the rears off and cleaned them and just cleaned up the one side that has a weird protrusion into the wheel well but this was only to get a little extra space for the chains should i need them.

First the trimming.

I then drilled new holes up from below the front air damn. These where installed with some spacers (1/4 to 3/8 inch tall, between the liner and the upper portion of the air damn.

I then did some melting to reform the liner to tuck in better in the front and the back. The last picture is a little messy.

Not perfect but good enough for me. Note that I no longer have a mud guard. I may eventually put a soft one on but the way everything turned out they no longer fit.

And while I am posting, here is a teaser for the next modification. Not sure when i will get to it as it will require some drilling and careful placement and I have a newborn coming in like 2 weeks most likely.

Well, ONLY about a year and a half later I finally installed the rock sliders.

Install was a bit awkward, but not super hard. I would say get a right angle drill or impact driver adapter and get some drill bits that fit in that adapter. So much easier then because you can get the sliders into position once and then drill and bolt in place. Otherwise you in for a big PITA.

I am not thrilled that it was necessary to drill holes into the bottom of the pinch welds of the body but it was necessary as they were weak without the added support. If these are not strong enough pin and welding would probably help a lot. However, the square tubing that mounts to the frame will never be crazy strong. If you really use these hard you will be transferring weight to the body and body mounts. This is at most a soft roader at the moment and these are glorified steps for my kids so probably fine for my current purposes and yours as well if they are similar.

I did offset them a little towards the rear to help get the kickout to align with the seem on the rear door.

Looks good. I have rock sliders I need to install also. It's been almost a year now.
