What did I tell you? Glad to hear it was an easy fix. I appreciate having filters, but talk about a piss-poor design. If we didn't have to squish/bend the things when installing, creating small gaps that make noise, it might not be too bad.NYPathfinder wrote:It's been about 150 miles since I did the cabin filters. Still no noises.
Damn! I ordered filters Monday night thinking a fix was on the horizon... Oh well, they've probably never been changed anyway... Let me know if you have any breakthroughs...NYPathfinder wrote:Ok so the sound is back. But it sounds like its coming from the engine bay now. Instead of the passenger side. It starts to happen as low as 70mph now. Today it was very windy as opposed to the past week where it hasn't been at all. Really starting to annoy me. Not even 2 months owning the truck and im having problems.
If changing the cabin filters cut down the noise from "all the time" to just when it is windy, you might want to pull out the cabin filters again and reseat them. The first time I changed mine, I had to pull them out & put them back in about 5 times before I got rid of a really annoying flapping noise. When I've changed them since then, I've always used a really long flathead screwdriver to get the stupid things seated all the way to the edges. Also, when you pull them out, shine a light in there & see if there is any debris along the edges. When I pulled out mine the first time, I had all sorts of crap (on them & in the filter housing) that came from somewhere off the car:NYPathfinder wrote:As of now it only happens when its really windy at around 70mph but now it sounds like its coming from the engine bay. Before i changed the cabin filters it was happening all the time at 75-80 and sounded like it was coming from the passenger side. any other helpful advice? i rechecked the engine bay for anything that was loose or seemed loose that would flap around. im clueless right now.
I was going to say the same thing actually- if the sound changed somehow from this, they are related. Either way, this thread was worthwhile. I haven't driven yet to see how the sound is affected, but I suspect after 120k miles, this was the first filter swapNYPathfinder wrote:As of now it only happens when its really windy at around 70mph but now it sounds like its coming from the engine bay.
