Have any of you used this funnel with an '06? Did you have to create a spacer to make it seat better? This is my project this weekend, just wishing the funnel would have worked out of the box...
You can't use the spill-free funnel on the radiator because of the coolant system design of the R51. The cap on the radiator is not a pressure relieve cap; that cap is on the coolant reservoir. The only use for the cap on the radiator is to refill the radiator after a service.

I think there are two issues people are talking about. If you lose your warm air when you idle or come to a stop it is probably low coolant. I have even had this with my rear air.......I did find a leak in the rear lines .

The other issue that is a huge PITA is the fact the Auto climate control sucks. In cold weather the heating system does not work properly. When set at 65 the heat is pouring out....super hot and and roasts me out of the vehicle......I have to turn it down to 60 and then it freezes me out............back up to 65 and I roast. I ran temp test and it is like 120 or more degree air comes out no matter if it is set at 65 or 90. This is not just my Pathfinder. I have two friends with the exact same issue on their Pathfinder. I also work at a used car dealership and have seen 3 other Pathfinders with the same heating issue. For whatever reason.........the climate control system sucks. Out of 20 times driving the Pathfinder.....it may work correct only once. On long trips I have to open the sunroof or just keep cycling the heat on and off every 3 mintues............what a pain.

I have the same problems as jlwardn. I also get crazy cold air in the summer...you have to adjust the temp between 70 and 80 to stay comfortable. I just recently started having issues with heat at idle. It starts to blow cold air within minutes of parking no matter what you do with the temp setting. This could be a mechanical issue but heat should not disappear that quickly. I've also kept a close watch on my coolant and so far the level has been fine (i've not bypassed or repalced radiator yet). My rear heat rarely works either...sometimes I get warm air...sometimes nothing. I've never found any leaks back on those lines either. Also seems like some sort of elecrtonic problem with the control unit or sensors.

Mine was not because of low coolant levels. I had the dealer burp it for me & my heat is back at idle.

Oh you poor bastards living in the midwest! I set my temp to 90 in the winter. Once I get up to operating temp & a good interior temp, I turn it down. I personally love the heat, so it doesn't bother me. If I'm on the highway for an hour or more, my hands (on the steering wheel) will freeze in the summer & get scorched in the winter. I prefer having air come out of the front vents, not the floor vents, and I can't seem to get both of my hands away from a vent.

On long trips, I have found the auto climate control works quite well. Even the dual zone is very effective.

How much did the stealership charge to burp it?

Nada. I had them do a bunch of things for my 60k service a few months ago, one of which was flush/refill the cooling system. Plus, they installed the Nissan bypass before they burped it, so my lack of heat was entirely on their heads.

It actually does not matter if it is on 65 or on 90....it is the same hot as hell air coming out. I also have had several nissan or infinity cars and their digital climate control work flawlessly.

at 65 it gets so hot in the vehicle after just 6 minutes of driving.....and that is on the lowest fan setting.

I have noticed that it does change a bit if I put it in Auto mode. The only problem with this is that I can't control the fan speed nor can I control where the heat comes out. Many times you need it on defrost and on the floor at the same time. In auto mode it throws it completely on the floor and then the windshield frosts up fast.

I love the vehicle in the summer and can't stand it in the winter.

Okay, that sounds like there is a problem somewhere. Unless you happen to weigh 600 lbs, which I'm guessing you don't.

Definitely something wrong. On longer drives, I can't have it set that low because I'd freeze to death. The same holds true if I have it that low in auto mode. Have you had your A/C checked?

mine seems to work the same, here's my experience.

in the summers i leave the air on whatever setting feels comfortable and usually have it on auto. it seems to do a decent job and keeping it where i want, but in the texas summers if your car was parked outside it takes a good 30-45min of driving for it to get -cold- in the pf.

now add the wife in the summers. she doesn't like it as cold, so she bumps up her side (dual climate) a few degrees. if it's in auto mode she's still too cold, and usually it will either be solid cold, or switch over to heat blowing out.

in the winters i set the fan speed and temp after about 5 min of idling/driving (doesn't seem to have much heat before that). after about 10 minutes of high fan + 90, i turn it to 70 and low fan. if i set it to use the upper vents, i can still feel it blowing the same temp air as before. seems to be either solid hot or solid cold.

now for what i've found as a "fix". when driving highway speeds with the 'vent' on, it seems the outside air is -forced- inside, so even if the fan is on low, it blows like it's on med. however if i switch to recirc, then low really is low, and the temp doesn't seem to be -hot- or -cold- anymore (depending on what i have the temp set at). if you have it on 'auto' then it seems the pf will use 'vent' most of the time. hard part is if you're using heat you can't set to recirc until the cabin is at or near whatever temp you wanted.

make sense?

FWIW, my mom's 2005 was also blowing cold, unless revs were up. After experiencing this first hand, and reading this thread (and others like it) I told her to go get her coolant system burped. Turned out, her bleeder assembly was cracked, allowing air into the system, resulting in the cold air problem. So, it /might/ not be as simple as just needing a burp, there might be something else causing the problem.

Interesting. Thx for posting that.

How much was it for her to get the bleeder assembly repaired?
